A second week in picturesque Brittany

9G5A0551-2Still in Brittany and really enjoying our time there! We have continued our exploration of its southern shores in the Morbihan area.  What a gorgeous, varied region. After leaving our rental accommodation near La Roche-Bernard, sister Véronique and Didier drove back to their home in Toulouse last Saturday, whereas Dad and us joined our cousins Michel and Geneviève who welcome us at their holiday house on the Rhuys Peninsula. There is a multitude of little ports nestled along inlets and small rivers, and so many quaint villages. We visited a few, meandering along the streets of old towns, where we could not resist Breton delicacies: galettes, crêpes, cider, cheeses, paté, mussels, more cider, patisserie. So as you can imagine, this holiday is definitely not an occasion for weight loss or strict diet … way too many temptations!

Our second week in Brittany has been a continuation of tasty meals, animated conversations, and a family reunion that has brought warmth to all our hearts.  We are now heading back to Normandy for a last couple of days before we fly back to Australia.  Our precious time with Dad is coming to an end on Friday, but we feel good about our three weeks together.

Here is a gallery showing a few of the places we have enjoyed these last few days.

  1. good that your time has been so enjoyable, love your photos so quaint. great old boats too. Look forward to you both being back in Oz

  2. Brings back lovely memories. From Australia, but living in France, we headed to Brittany for part of our summer holiday a few years back. We stayed in a little village called Plougoumelen, and Auray was our nearest market town. I can almost see us sitting at the little colombage café in your photo…
